NAVSEA – On Watch
The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) are the command staff of civilian, military, contract support personnel, and engineers that together build, buy and maintain ships, submarines and combat systems that meet the Fleet’s (US Navy) current and future operational requirements. NAVSEA is the largest of the Navy’s five system commands. With a fiscal year budget of nearly $30 billion, NAVSEA accounts for one quarter of the Navy’s entire budget, with a force of 60,000.
Every year NAVSEA publishes their On Watch report, a sort of year-in-review, outlining the progress of the US Fleet’s engineering and building prowess, reflecting on the latest accomplishments and looking ahead to the future of marine warfare and ship building. The design for the report needed to be clean and concise, organized and informational to outline all of the technical material outlined within. A muted color palette and modern typography lent to this goal and a strong grid system allowed for a well designed report.
